Overview

We create large-scale projects to protect, improve and restore nature and biodiversity.

We create large-scale projects to protect, improve and restore nature and biodiversity.

We shape our programmes in partnership with local communities. For us, working with local people and creating community co-benefits isn’t an add-on - it goes to the very heart of our mission.
Our ecologists design projects to prioritise lasting impact. 95% of our work is in blue and teal environments which are more durable and long-term.
Our end-to-end model means we develop our own nature restoration programmes, using innovative technology and science to ensure robust measurement, reporting and verification.
We deliver and quality-control each phase of the process of creating a carbon and community co-benefit credit. There is no complex supply chain and no lost accountability, maintaining transparency and integrity throughout.

Areas of expertise

Blue carbon projects

We have a particular expertise in blue carbon project development - where carbon is stored in saltwater ecosystems in vegetation and soils, for example in mangrove plantations, saltmarshes, seagrasses and seaweed. Mangrove forests are one of the top three carbon capturing ecosystems on earth. (Capturing way more carbon than rainforests.) And 80% of the carbon capture is deep within the soil.

This means it’s locked away for a long time - one study published in the Marine Ecology Progress Series found carbon stored in peat under a mangrove forest was 5,000 years old.

Teal carbon projects

More than a third of the world's wetlands have disappeared since 1970. Degradation of ‘teal’ freshwater habitats like marshes and swamps due to things like changes in how land is used, modifications to land, pollution, and water extraction causes carbon to be emitted back into the atmosphere.

Restoration and protection of this kind of ecosystem means carbon is captured and stored, in turn having a cooling effect on the climate.

Green carbon projects

Some of our work is on green projects where carbon is sequestered in land ecosystems like forests. By conserving and restoring forest habitation we shore-up existing capacity for carbon storage and increase capacity too.

We’re developing innovative ways of measuring and verifying the impact of this work using cutting edge technology to build-in transparency and generate highest integrity carbon credits.
